You might have seen the viral videos going around about "meat glue." It's deceptive, it's nasty, and it's potentially deadly. Read on to learn more about why it's used, what it is, and the dangers that it poses.

Well, first to get to why this stuff is used. Corporations and businesses don't want to lose money, and I think we can all relate to that on some level. I know, for one, that all my odd-shaped scraps of wrapping paper end up being used as gift tags or amalgamated wrappings, for example. Money is money, and everyone has their odd ways of saving it and not wasting things that can be made use of.

Manufacturers, food processors, caterers, and butchers are exactly the same way; the issue is that instead of wrapping paper scraps, they have meat scraps after trimming and shaping their cuts. They've devised some ways to skirt around the issue of unused cuts of meat by using meat glue to bind the disparate snippets back together again (the end result of which is popularly termed "frankenmeat.")

"Meat glue" is industry standard, and chances are if you eat meat, or even tofu, you're consuming this binding agent on a monthly, if not weekly, basis. And for all you vegetarians and vegans out there, please note: this stuff is not friendly to you and might be in your cheese, dairy, or tofu.

What It Is

"Meat glue" is scientifically known astransglutaminase, and its brand name is Activa.

Activa is manufactured by the Ajinomoto company, the same lovely folks who have brought us the pervasive neurotoxins aspartame and MSG (monosodium glutamate.) There is little debate within scientific circles as to the neurotoxic effects of these food additives (please see bottom of page for sources.) The jury's still out about transglutaminase, but if you ask me, anyone willing to sell neurotoxins to the public can not and should not be trusted.

Transglutaminase (TG) is an enzyme that helps proteins bind permanently together through the formation of covalent bonds. The TG forms cross-linked, insoluble, and irreversible protein polymers.

Natural examples of these stable polymers are found in blood clots, our skin, and hair.

What's happening chemically: protein-bound lysine + protein-bound glutamine (free amine + carboxamide.)

How It's Made

Most TG is made from the cultivation of bacteria using the blood plasma (clotting factors) from cows and pigs. Some TG is made from cultivating bacteria using vegetable and plant extracts. Most TGs are mixed with other ingredients including gelatin and caseinate (milk derivative.)

The issue? Manufacturers don't have to tell you which method they're using, what type of animal plasma was used (cow, pig), or anything else that most of us would like to know more about. As with most things, the only way you can really know what you're consuming is if you make it yourself.

Depending on how stringent a vegetarian you are, this may or may not ring some bells for you. Vegans, avoid this stuff like the plague. In addition to vegetarians and vegans, Judaism and pork products don't go together, so make sure you're buying kosher cuts. There is a special "kosher" meat glue made just for you.

What It's Used For

Makes "steaks" out of glued together meat chunks

Makes imitation crab meat, chicken nuggets, and fish balls

Creates reconstituted steaks, fillets, roasts, and cutlets

Makes uniform meat portions that cook evenly and reduce waste

Binds meat mixtures (sausages, hot dogs) without using casings

Improves mouth feel, water retention, and appearance of processed meats

Makes novel meat combinations like lamb and scallops or bacon and beef

Makes meat noodles (shrimp noodles) and other cuisine oddities

For use in molecular gastronomy

Thickens egg yolks

Strengthens dough mixtures

Thickens dairy products (yogurt, cheese)

Increases yield in tofu production

Dangers And Concerns

The FDA classifies the TG enzyme as GRAS or "generally recognized as safe," and it's also approved by the USDA. That said, the USDA approves the use of neurotoxins (MSG, aspartame, fluoride), pesticides and herbicides, and growth hormone and antibiotic-injected meats.

Bacterial Contamination:

When multiple pieces of meat are globbed together (potentially from different animals and multiple countries), this can be a hazard. "If there is a bacteria outbreak, it's much harder to figure out the source when chunks of meat from multiple cows were combined," says Keith Warriner who teaches food science at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada.

Food Poisoning:

The bacterial count in "restructured" meat is extremely high because pieces of meat that were outside pieces are now glued together inside, making them hard to cook thoroughly. "The amount of bacteria on a steak that's been put together with meat glue is hundreds of times higher," says microbiologist Glenn Pener. This can lead to food poisoning, dire illness, and even death.

Increased Risk Of Disease:

In addition to an enormous increase in the likelihood of bacterial infections and food poisoning, there's a potential link between consumed TG and common diseases. Though not directly linked to consumption of transglutaminase, there's an increased risk to people who do not regulate the enzyme properly.

For example, when TG is not properly regulated in the body, it's associated with plaques in the brains of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's Disease patients; in the development of cataracts in the eyes; arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries); and various skin disorders. [Transglutaminases in Disease, Soo-Youl Kim, et al., Neurochemistry International 40 (2002), 85-103.]

Gluten Allergy And Celiac Disease:

The "glut" of transglutaminase stands for "gluten." We've recently seen an enormous increase in gluten sensitivity in the US. Might this increase, in part, be due to the continued and "forced" consumption of this enzyme?

Ingested meat glue is not a "self" transglutaminase, and will therefore be recognized by the immune system as foreign. If this leads to your own transglutaminase being determined foreign as well, it could lead to the development of gluten allergy and Celiac (Coeliac) Disease.

(BeWellBuzz) We were surprised by the overwhelming response for our "10 Reasons Why Flu Shots Are More Dangerous Than a Flu" article. Thanks for your comments - we are glad to know that the article was beneficial for most of you.

Some of you expressed your concerns over the authenticity of facts in the article, so we made it a point to cite more research studies conducted over the last one year to prove that flu shots are dangerous:

1) Sanofi Pasteur's Fluzone High-Dose is a new influenza vaccine created in 2010 for people over 65 years of age. Even though the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) insists that the vaccine is as safe as any other seasonal vaccine, the fact is that the shot is replete with side effects like pain, redness and swelling at the injection site, headache, muscle aches, fever, and malaise.

All the listed negative symptoms were observed during clinical studies for Fluzone High-Dose.

2) The CDC says that the 2011-2012 flu vaccine may also have the same side effects the 2010-2011 vaccines had. These include soreness, redness, tenderness, or swelling where the shot is administered and nasal congestion after the flu vaccine nasal spray.

3) The 2009 package insert for Novartis' Monovalent Vaccine which was leaked on the internet created a huge uproar. Why? Because, its side effects, as stated on the insert, include: Guillain-Barre Syndrome, anaphylactic shock, vasculitis, and get this- death.

This finding backed two studies conducted in 2007 and 2009, of which the latter found that out of every million people diagnosed with flu, between 40 and 70 developed Guillain-Barre after getting the shot. However, this information didn't stop Government health officials from pushing the vaccine into the market in 2010 and 2011.

4) In December of 2010, however, the flu vaccine formulated specifically for children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years old was found to be causing a higher than normal incidence of febrile seizures

5) In February 2010, The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that 12 countries had recorded a possible link between the development of narcolepsy, a chronic nervous system disorder that makes people uncontrollably fall asleep, and the H1N1 vaccine. Finland, was one of those countries who openly admitted that the swine flu vaccine "conclusively" causes narcolepsy. The Finnish government acknowledged that link and said that would pay for "lifetime medical care" for 79 children who have been irreparably damaged by the swine flu vaccine. Narcolepsy wasn't the only side effect admitted to be caused by swine flu vaccines: 76 of the 79 children also suffered hallucinations and "paralyzing physical collapses".

6) A series of miscarriages were recorded in the US after June 2010 due to the H1N1 vaccination. Hundreds of cases were reported across the country, and most miscarriages took place within days of the vaccination.

7) Dr. Hugh Fudenberg, a world renowned immunogeneticist announced that you have a ten-fold increased chance of Alzheimer's after receiving five flu shots. That'sten times more likelythan no flu shots or one, not ten percent more likely.

8) In 2010 Australia baned flu vaccines in children. Vaccinated children were going into convulsions, began vomiting or exhibiting dangerously high levels of fever.

9) A study published in the Cochrane Systematic Review in 2010 stated that there was no scientific evidence to prove that regular or seasonal flu shots protect people over the age of 65. The study concluded: "Evidence for the safety and efficacy of influenza vaccines in the over 65 is poor, despite the fact that vaccination has been recommended for the prevention of influenza in older people for the past 40 years."

10) A study conducted by The Lancet in 2010 brought out some startling revelations about the effectiveness of flu shots. The study involved a control group of 13,095 adults who were not vaccinated. The group was monitored to see if participants had been infected by the influenza virus, but 97% remained unaffected.

Only 2.7% or 357 people in the non-vaccinated group ended up contracting the virus. Of the group of adults who were vaccinated with a trivalent inactivated influenza shot, only 1.2% did not catch the flu. The difference between the two outcomes is that the flu vaccine only prevents the flu in 1.5 out of every 100 adults injected with the flu shot not 60% as you've been told.

Despite such studies and findings, you still have millions of Americans rushing to stand in line for annual flu shots. In 2010, 130.9 million people got the flu shot- an increase of 8 million people from 2009.

There are several natural remedies for the flu that are far more effective and pose no danger whatsoever to our health. We'd do well to educate ourselves about the true motives of Big Pharma and think twice before going out to get a flu shot this season.

Several days ago Mike Adams of Natural News exposed a dirty little secret. It was around a product his colleagues were promoting named Adya Clarity and private labeled as David Wolfe's Black Mica & The Water Power. There may be other private labels we aren't aware of. The long and short of it is that a black mica extract was mislabeled and hyped with glorious health benefits. The reality is it's toxic. Please check out the links at the bottom of this post to learn more from Natural News.

What I'd like to speak about is holding people we trust as "gurus" & experts accountable for their actions. It's also about the lessons and take aways from this debacle.

There are those out there that position themselves as experts and sell us on solutions that aren't tested or verified. We give them power to influence us using marketing trickery and we buy into the lie. Their sincerity of belief in a product is unfortunately not enough. It costs $100 to send a product out and test it to make sure it's not causing the people they claim to care about harm. In the case of Adya Clarity and its private labels that duty to the consumer was neglected. Trust is lost. What else have we been scammed into buying? What else is poisoning us?

As a consumer there are lessons to be learned. One of them is to do our own due diligence, use our intuition and discernment through vigorous fact checking. The other is to take back the power we give these people in helping make health decisions. It's so important to question everything, demand more than just a promise and a cleverly positioned sales pitch.

The situation with Adya was malicious. The product conveniently left out Aluminum Sulfate, a chemical used in sewage treatment. The owner claims his computer were hacked and the labels changed. Hackers of course have nothing better to do than change label ingredients, right?! The health claims made around this product are outrageously extravagant and reek of greed and irresponsibility.

In the coming days we will be holding interviews around this topic and how to clean your body of these toxins. In the meantime if you know of anyone that may have purchased this product make sure to let them know to stop taking it and return it for a full refund.

WHAT THE ADYA CLARITY PATENT REVEALS...

Big thank-you to LTD who posted the links to the patent application for black mica/Adya Clarity by inventor Asao Shimanishi. The patent application document answered a number of my questions, but also raised some important new ones. If you read through the patent document, you will see that my question of "How do they make an extract from a rock anyway?" is answered. They do it using sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid. As stated, this then results in a highly acidic product (Adya Clarity), so they caution NOT to use it at a concentration of more then 100 - 200 ppm (parts per million).

If you do, then they want you to add "lime water or a dilute caustic soda solution" to neutralize the pH of the water. As we all know, drinking acidic water (or other liquids or foods) is damaging to health in the long-term.

So that leaves me with my first big new question: Has anybody tested the concentration (ppm) of Adya Clarity that these "health gurus" are telling you to add to your water? Especially in the case of the 'Adya Shots' (talked about in the Kacper Postawski webinar) where they recommend 1 tsp in 1 ounce of water daily for a month. Just logically, it seems to me that would add up to more than 200 ppm (parts per million) of Adya Clarity in that 1 ounce of water... but without testing, we can't know.

For this reason, I have to add a BIG WARNING to people with IBD or IBS: Be extremely careful if you use this highly acidic product. We know that even tiny amounts of Betaine Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) can trigger intestinal bleeding, so this product will likely have a similar action/effect on the digestive tract of sensitive individuals. The sellers of Adya Clarity are being misleading in this regard, positioning the product as a "mineral extract" - no one would assume that it is an acidic solution, because minerals are alkalizing, right? But yet, according to the product patent, black mica extract or Adya Clarity, is a highly acidic solution, so acidic that anything over 200 ppm can acidify the water and you need to add alkalizing agents to bring the water back to a pH of 7 or higher.

The other issue the patent application raised for me was that of water filtration/safety. The promoters and seller of Adya Clarity and other black mica extracts are telling people that it's all you need to use to purify any water from any source (rivers, lakes, tap, etc.). However, the inventors of this product state very clearly in the patent application that the mica mineral reagent is only one step in the water purification process and that you also need to:

a) Filter the water first with a "filtering chamber" to remove large or visible debris

b) Then an active charcoal filtration layer is needed to remove anions and a vermion filtration layer is needed to remove cations, "Such ions include cations of ammonia, calcium, manganese, or ions of chlorine, fluorine, nitric acid and nitrous acid".

c) Lastly, the black mica (Adya Clarity) is added to "insolubulize organic materials dissolved in sewage and sterilize bacteria".

So, this is a very important distinction to keep in mind: That Adya Clarity on its own is NOT sufficient to sterilize water from all sources - according to the inventor of the product.

Kacper Postawski - one of the promoters of Adya Clarity has a Facebook ad running that claims that Adya Clarity can remove fluoride (when fluorine has bonded to other elements) from your drinking water, but in the patent document it states that the vermion (from vermiculite) filtration layer is needed to remove fluorine from the water.

Your doctor ordered a blood test. But do you understand the numbers? Or if you're bordering on a heart attack, diabetes or underactive thyroid? We asked few experts to explain these critical medical test results - and what they say about your health.

1. Blood Pressure
Blood pressure is simply a measurement of the force of blood pushing against artery walls as your heart pumps blood through the body.

Your doctor will read off two numbers. The top, or systolic, is the pressure that occurs when your heart beats. The bottom, or diastolic, measures pressure when your ticker rests between beats.

If your blood pressure is higher than normal, you have hypertension, which "damages arteries, leading to strokes, kidney failure, blindness and heart attacks," Wright says.

What's optimal for your health: 120/80 mmHg. (That stands for millimeters of mercury, which is used to measure blood pressure.)

What's not: A top number over 140 or a bottom number higher than 90 indicate high blood pressure.

A systolic number of 120-139 or a diastolic of 80-89 suggests pre-hypertension, which means you're likely to end up with high blood pressure if you don't exercise more or change your diet. Some people have low blood pressure, but this is a problem only if it causes fainting or dizziness.

2. Cholesterol
The body needs some of this waxy, fatty substance to help it make hormones and vitamin D, for example. But too much cholesterol can accumulate on your arterial walls and lead to heart attacks and strokes.

Your body produces two kinds of cholesterol: HDL, or "high-density lipoprotein," is good for you because it helps keep arteries clear. The higher this number, the lower your risk of heart disease.

Bad cholesterol, or LDL or "low-density lipoprotein," can build up in arteries and form plaque, a hard substance that can slow or block blood flow. The bigger the LDL reading, the higher your cardiac disease risk.

Two other types of bad cholesterol, triglycerides and Lp(a) cholesterol, also contribute to arterial plaque buildup.

What's optimal for your health: Total blood cholesterol should be below 200 mg/dL (which means milligrams per deciliter of blood).

HDL should be over 50 for women

LDL, less than 100 is optimal; 100-129 is near-optimal

What's not: Total blood cholesterol of 200-239 is borderline high; over 240 is high.

HDL: below 50 for women

LDL: 130-159 is borderline high; 160-189 is high; 190 or above is very high

3. C-Reactive Protein (CRP)
Your liver produces this protein, and levels rise when arteries are inflamed or swollen. It's a sign of cardiovascular disease.

A test called the hs-CRP (highly sensitive C-Reactive Protein) measures how much CRP is in your blood. People with high levels have twice the risk of heart attacks than those with low levels, according to the American Heart Association.

What's optimal for your health: An hs-CRP level of less than 1.0 mg/L (milligrams per liter) indicates low risk; 1.0 to 3.0 mg/L means average risk.

What's not: An hs-CRP level more than 3.0 mg/L indicates a high risk.

4. Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
This simple blood test will tell you if your body is producing enough THS. The hormone is produced by the pituitary gland to help control hormones produced by the thyroid, a butterfly-shaped gland in the lower part of your neck just above the collarbone.

The thyroid controls many body processes, including bowel function, energy level and menstruation.

An underactive thyroid slows metabolism, creating hypothyroidism. Symptoms include unexplained weight gain, decreased appetite, feeling too cold, oversleeping, constipation, hair loss, reduced sex drive, infertility, depression and excessive fatigue.

An overactive thyroid speeds up your metabolism, a condition called hyperthyroidism. Symptoms include unexplained weight loss, increased appetite, feeling too hot, sleeping troubles, pounding heartbeat, diarrhea and feeling wound-up.

What's optimal for your health: TSH from 0.4 to 4.0 mIU/L (milli-international units per liter)

What's not: Over 4.0 mIU/L indicates hypothyroidism. Under 0.4 means hyperthyroidism.

5. Blood Sugar
A blood glucose test can indicate if your body is processing blood sugars properly and whether you're at risk for diabetes, one of the leading causes of disability and death in the U.S.

When you eat, food is converted into blood sugar. In healthy people, a hormone called insulin, which is secreted by the pancreas, ushers glucose into cells throughout your body so it can fuel growth, cell repair and other functions.

In some people, insulin doesn't do its job, either because the pancreas, a gland behind the stomach, doesn't make enough or because the body is resistant to it. The result: Too much glucose stays in the blood and diabetes develops. Over time, excess blood sugar can damage blood vessels, heart, kidneys, eyes and nerves.

Three medical tests measure blood sugar levels: Hemoglobin A1C, fasting plasma glucose test (FPG) and oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). Most doctors will do an FPG or OGTT, but the hemoglobin A1C is considered the most reliable.

"It shows how high blood sugars have been over the last three months," says Laura C. Knobel, M.D., a family physician in Walpole, Mass., and a member of the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

What's optimal for your health: An A1C under 5.7%, an FPG under 100 mg/dL or OGTT below 140 mg/dL

What's not: An A1 from 5.7% to 6.4% indicates pre-diabetes; over 6.4% is considered diabetes.

FPG: 100-125 mg/dL indicates pre-diabetes; over 125 indicates diabetes

OGTT: 140-200 mean pre-diabetes; over 200 is diabetes

6. Bone Mineral Density (BMD)
Doctors use bone mineral density tests to gauge skeletal health. The denser your bones, the stronger they are. But when they lose calcium (their primary substance) because of aging, poor diet, lack of exercise or a genetic predisposition, they become less dense, resulting in osteoporosis.

BMD test measures bone density against that of a healthy 30-year-old woman. The comparison is used to determine a T-score. A score of 0 means your bones are equal to that of a healthy 30-year-old. Higher numbers indicate stronger bones; lower indicates weaker ones.

With a BMD test, you may also get a Z-score, comparing your bone density to women your age. A Z-score is a less accurate way to diagnose osteoporosis, but it can tell your doctor if you're starting to lose calcium.

What's optimal for your health: A T-score of minus 1 to plus 1 and a Z-score above minus 2 is normal.

What's not: T-scores from minus 1 to minus 2.5 indicate low bone density --- a condition known as osteopenia.

A T-score lower than minus 2.5 indicates osteoporosis. Z-scores below minus 2 require more testing.

Most of us rely on natural supplements and foods to rejuvenate our minds and bodies and strengthen our immune system. To imagine a life without these supplements seems rather drastic, but unless someone takes off the blinders that the FDA is wearing so stubbornly, this could well become a reality.

As shocking as it sounds, the FDA is on a banning spree, and they're taking their cues from the EU. Number of natural supplements and traditional herbs such as St. John's Wort and Valerian were recently banned in UK. The EU has also banned traditional Chinese and Indian medicines which are known to have some very good restorative properties and can cause no harm if taken in the right proportions.

If the FDA follows in the footsteps of its European counterpart, chances are that many natural supplements that we've been relying on heavily, especially those that were formulated after 1994, could well be shown the door.

What the FDA is doing

The story begins in 1994, when the FDA was forced to stop regulating dietary supplements by the government by the implementation of a law known as DSHEA. This law also required manufacturers of dietary supplements to inform the FDA whenever they used a new ingredient in their supplements. However, it was never quite clear how dietary supplement manufacturers were supposed to notify the FDA, and the New Dietary Ingredient (NDI) rules had remained an ignored subsection until recently.

The FDA has decided to implement NDI very recently, which effectively means that all dietary supplements with new ingredients since 1994 are no longer valid. Armed with the new implementation or enforcement of these old rules, the FDA stands poised to virtually destroy the natural and nutritional supplements industry.

Already banned or in the danger zone

Some natural supplements are already in the danger zone and are being touted by the FDA as unsafe. The FDA went as far as to seizing labels and threatening many companies with arrest. Some of the products that have been deemed unsafe by the FDA are:

Probiotics - The FDA says that manufacturers of probiotics make false claims regarding treatment or control of possible health issues such as colds, flu, respiratory infections, ulcers, etc.

Elderberry juice - According to the FDA, elderberry juice falls under the category of those supplements that wrongfully lead a person to avoid seeking legitimate treatment.

Pyridoxamine - This common form of Vitamin B6 has already gone under the hammer in 2009.

According to the FDA, these nutritional supplements are harmful because they can interfere with other drugs that people might be taking. What probably irks most is the FDA's assumption that it knows what's best for the people. Do they really?

Why the FDA is banning supplements?

The answer is easy- money. If more people start using natural supplements, they will have better immunity, and fewer people will get sick. A healthy nation rings the death knell for pharmaceutical companies. By implementing this ban, the FDA is trying to ensure the survival of pharmaceutical companies at the risk of destroying the natural supplement industry. If you know even a little about big league drug companies, you know that they're all about 'curing' diseases, and that no one really cares about 'preventing' them.

On the other hand, natural medicines, herbs, and supplements that are considered as alternative medicine actually cost way less than their chemical counterparts and have fewer or no side effects. However, the FDA has chosen to ignore this important aspect and has taken a strict stance toward natural remedies. In fact, they have started threatening companies selling natural products, seizing some of these products from manufacturers and threatening these practitioners with financial penalties and injunctions.

If you think this is a conspiracy theory, what would you say about the FDA already changing some of the NDI rules, wherein synthetic drugs do not need any notification or approval?

Yes, you heard that right. According to the FDA, drug companies that use synthetic copies of natural molecules are exempt from the whole rigmarole of reporting additions of new ingredients to their products. If this doesn't sound like the selective enforcement of rules, then what does?

If the goal of a documentary is to focus on reality and instruct the society through its cinematic narrative, Marketing of Madness succeeds beyond doubt. It takes us deep inside the mire of corporate skullduggery spread all over the psychiatric drugs market. Focusing all along on the merger of psychotropic drug marketers and the psychotherapists, the documentary tries to establish in detail the eerie connection between the two.

Chris Thilk does not talk through his hat even once while shooting this piece and refrains from playing in the gray area. He is clear in shunning the diagnoses of psychiatrists and proves that the inferences are meant mostly for profit raking than for the betterment of clinically psychotic patients.

The documentary makes further incisions when it shows how the psychiatric drugs only hamper the mental condition of the patients even further. For the children and the teenagers, such drugs can have more debilitating effects than cocaine and for adults they can be the inducing agents of aggression, bipolar disorder and chronic depression. And yet, for the lure of lucre, the marketing campaigners and therapists do not mind taking the society inside a suicidal den. After all, they make steaming currency out of it and that is perhaps all which matters to them.

Of the 100 million people or so living on psychotic drugs, more than half actually do not require them at all or need them in far lesser dosages than prescribed; this callous reversion of ethics provides bread to the $80 billion drug market.

Marketing of Madness certainly immerses itself into the corporate mire and brings out the deep dark shadows of profit mongering that prevail at the cost of a patient's mental erosion.
