The Desire Map” by Danielle LaPorte

Possibly the bible for meeting your life’s dreams. LaPorte has managed to pour what seems like a lifetime of thoughts into one big envelope. If you have yet to get your hands on it, treat yourself right now.

Most life-planning tools focus on external attainment and results. Which is valuable. Getting results is what moves your life forward. Except that most goal-setting systems fail to harness the most powerful driver behind any aspiration: your preferred feelings; and they foster an uptight determination that can keep us from the vitality we crave.

The Desire Map program is changing all of that. You could call it holistic life-planning. The inner meets the outer. The spirit drives the material. “The Desire Map” comes with two parts plus many exercises, worksheets, and thought pieces. This one may take a year to work through or a weekend. Up to you. Definitely one of the best books of 2015!

TheAlchemist1

The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho

If you have yet to read this book, go out and buy it today. This simple yet oh-so-powerful story is chock full of subtle life lessons. I pretty much forced my high schooler to read this book. He may not have gotten out of it what I have, but I wanted this information in his head. It is that good. Loved it the first, second, and third times I read it. Favorite quote from this book: “…when we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too.”

Paulo Coelho’s enchanting novel has inspired a devoted following around the world. This story, dazzling in its powerful simplicity and inspiring wisdom, is about an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago who travels from his homeland in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of a treasure buried in the Pyramids. Along the way he meets a Gypsy woman, a man who calls himself king, and an alchemist, all of whom point Santiago in the direction of his quest. No one knows what the treasure is, or if Santiago will be able to surmount the obstacles along the way. But what starts out as a journey to find worldly goods turns into a discovery of the treasure found within.

Lush, evocative, and deeply humane, the story of Santiago is an eternal testament to the transforming power of our dreams and the importance of listening to our hearts.

daring-greatly

Daring Greatly” by Dr. Brene Brown

Researcher and thought leader Dr. Brené Brown offers a powerful new vision that encourages us to dare greatly: to embrace vulnerability and imperfection, to live wholeheartedly, and to courageously engage in our lives.

Every day we experience the uncertainty, risks, and emotional exposure that define what it means to be vulnerable, or to dare greatly. Whether the arena is a new relationship, an important meeting, our creative process, or a difficult family conversation, we must find the courage to walk into vulnerability and engage with our whole hearts.

In “Daring Greatly“, Dr. Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability. Based on twelve years of research, she argues that vulnerability is not weakness, but rather our clearest path to courage, engagement, and meaningful connection.

A study in vulnerability, the courage how to be vulnerable and completely transform the trajectory of your life. Honestly, I couldn’t love Brene Brown any more than I do.  Such a great read, especially after seeing her viral TEDx talk.

“A New Earth” by Ekhart Tolle

“A New Earth” is a profoundly spiritual manifesto for a better way of life and for building a better world. Work past old patterns of anger, anxiety, unhappiness and more and transcend to a path of a fulfilling and happy existence.

With his bestselling spiritual guide “The Power of Now,” Eckhart Tolle inspired millions of readers to discover the freedom and joy of a life lived “in the now.” In “A New Earth,” Tolle expands on these powerful ideas to show how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world. The Power of Now” was a question-and-answer handbook. “A New Earth” has been written as a traditional narrative, offering anecdotes and philosophies in a way that is accessible to all. Illuminating, enlightening, and uplifting,
