Hi I had M.E and cronic fatige for 6 years, but over it now, started juicing 3 months ago and loving it, 95 % diary free also, but still get times of fatige but working on the raw food stuff more so i know I’ll get there, MY question is, my youngerst son is a professional boxer I get up every morning at 6am to make his raw food juice which he has after his morning run, he is asthmatic and although his diet is very good and clean when making wait he still gets bouts of tierdness, Which is the best juice mix or food for energy whilst he is training, he burns massive amounts of calories when training so needs the best food/juice to help with energy levels, I hope some one can advise,
Kind Regards
Andy
Andy, with a boxer’s training regimen, they do require times of extremely high caloric intake, and other times of extremely high nutrient intake with very LOW calories depending on the goal of moving up or down in weight. My question is whether your son is usually working to move up or down in weight so that I can recommend the most consistent approach. In general, as far as utilizing raw food juicing for recovery, you want to go little bit higher glycemic than usual, so adding a bit more fruit like apples, pears, and pineapples will be good in this case AS LONG AS he’s a slow-oxidizer, basically meaning that he doesn’t crash within an hour after having the juice. Something like 8 ribs of celery, 3 apples, 2 cucumbers, 5 kale leaves, and half a lemon will be a good one to try (It should be a BIG juice, like 64 ounces and actually chew the juice a bit to mix it with his amylase enzymes in his saliva and breakdown the carbohydrates).
If he his energy is balanced continue, but if he has a drop in energy shortly after then you should try implementing some spirulina, chlorella, or raw superfood blend like Vitamineral green to the juice… If it still doesn’t keep him level, then he’s definitely a fast oxidizer and you have to back off on the fruit sugar and even possibly add in a small amount of easily digestible fats and protein along with the juice (like a hard boiled egg, 2 tbsp of sprouted nut butter, or a few tbsp of lentil dip with veggies).
Hi Shawn, thank you so much for your eply, theres a lot of help in there, Shawn my son is alway losing weight to make his boxing weight, he walks around naturally at around 13.5 to 14 stone, but needs to make 12 stone for the super middleweight division, He is new to the profession and he’s only at his 2nd fight stage and he may well depending on how his body feels at this weight move down to middleweight but that will be in the future, He is asthmatic so can’t have eggs dairy etc and he hates celery, I normally juice 3 green apples, 2 large carrots, and a whole raw beetroot, with a sprinkle of sea salt and he loves them, not seen him crash after training etc but we have also got him on Spirulina x 2 tea spoons in water in the morning and Chlorella x 2 tea spoons after noon again in water with Agave syrup and he seems good on that, he does put weight on easily if he’s not training so any help you could give to help him with his energy levels would be really appreciated,
Thank you for taking the time to get back to me,
Kind regards
Andy
