You’re not alone…
Around 250,000 people in just the United States live with paralyzing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. This condition, even in it’s lower, less extreme forms is becoming prevalent in our society.
There’s a reason for that!
When you listen to this podcast you will discover the root causes behind fatigue and real solutions you can implement today.
In Part 1 Shawn Stevenson reveals:
- The root cause of fatigue.
- What produces 90% of your bodies energy? (the answer will shock you!)
- You want to eat these foods to boost energy.
- What foods to avoid at all costs.
- ______ Oil is an instant energy booster.
- ______ Seeds are important to increasing energy.
- What the cell matrix is and why it’s important to giving your body the energy it needs.

Good article on how fatigue is best resolved with a generally healthy diet.
One issue in the podcast that I found dubious, and that is the statement “The mitochondria are actually bacteria”. That is not true, it is not also a lie, we simply still just don’t know. The endosymbiotic theory states that mitochondria have descended from bacteria, which is difficult to prove, but most seem to think that is the fact. Then there are speculations that mitochondria could actually be bacteria and there is an article by Pallen MJ on this subject (Trends Microbiol. 2011 Feb;19(2):58-64. Epub 2010 Dec 1.).
So I have to say it is not a well founded statement to link together health of the general gut flora (bacteria) and health of the mitochondira (bacteria), i.e. the bacteria/bacteria connection. Although health of the gut flora with out doubt will increase your energy.
Halli, you are more than correct with your assessment. Thank you for adding the theoretical history, and the fact that most scientist do believe the mitochondria to be derived from bacteria. Without going into a whole course in the differences of bacteria (including environment, species, reproduction, and overall morphology) this was the optimal way to transmit the message that bacteria are critical for the production of energy. As engaging and inspiring teachers, we sometimes have to consolidate information for the general public to create a state change and help people to take a step towards health. With someone as educated as yourself, I truly want to thank you for your critical thinking and research… And you came to the ultimate conclusion with your last statement, which is, “Although health of the gut flora without doubt will increase your energy.”
What the underlying message here is that irregardless of the species of bacteria (be it the mitochondria, lung specific bacteria, or gut bacteria), the cellular environment is the most important key to health, and healthy flora sets a cascade of benefits to improve mitochondria health. Thank you SO MUCH again for your contribution!
As usual great content. I appreciate your articles very much as I’m slowly recovering from severe ME. I’m almost 60 but following brilliant information as this is helping me greatly. Thank you and God bless you.
Madeleine, you should be truly proud of yourself for taking steps in recovering from ME (even if i’s slowly). Many people go undiagnosed and can’t figure out why things aren’t lining up, and it takes a special person to take control of their own health and well being, and applying the great information they come across. Thank YOU, and you’ve got fans out here supporting you and rooting you on!
Shawn, This was one of the most comprehensive and biochemically on-point explanations of fatigue and its origin at the cellular level I have heard, to date. I LOVED that you discussed the dangers of oxidized fats and how they damage the mitochondria, leading to fatigue. I believe this is something that is so often overlooked and a big cause of the inflammation and oxidative stress that plagues Western society today. I am going to check out your Key to Quantum Health and look forward to the next podcast. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS INFORMATION. I’VE KNOWN ALL MY LIFE IF I EAT FERMENTED FOODS MY ENERGY LEVEL WILL GO UP. WITHOUT FERMENTED FOODS I ACTUALLY FEEL LAZY.
Thanks for this interesting information! I found it very useful =)
It’s good to see someone approaching a cure for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome by addressing diet. I had this awful condition for three years and no medic was able to help me, they were clueless. I was just about to give up all hope when I decided to omit gluten, sugar, dairy, wheat and yeast from my diet and I recovered, almost overnight. Four months later and I am running on the treadmill every day and more active than I have ever been. So for anyone who doubts that diet can fix you, I say give it a go!
