Telomeres play a central role in cell fate and aging by adjusting the cellular response to stress and growth stimulation. Inside the center or nucleus of a cell, our genes are located on twisted, double-stranded molecules of DNA called chromosomes. At the ends of the chromosomes are stretches of DNA called telomeres.
In this podcast Shawn Stevenson goes into depth about these telomeres and reveals how to keep them long, resulting in extended lifespan.
Telomeres protect our genetic data and make it possible for cells to divide. They hold some secrets to how we age and get cancer. By tweaking enzymes that prevent chromosome tips from unraveling, researchers have shown age-related tissue degeneration can be reversed in some mice.
Telomeres have been compared with the plastic tips on shoelaces because they prevent chromosome ends from fraying and sticking to each other, which would scramble an organism’s genetic information to cause cancer, other diseases or death.
When you watch to this podcast you’ll discover:
- Telomeres explained in simple terms.
- What is telomere dysfunction.
- Impact of Benzopyrene.
- Factors that accelerate telomere shortening (aging).
- How to prevent the shortening of telomeres (longevity).
- The one herb that’s proven to lengthen telomeres.

Have you checked out the research done by Dr.Bill Andrews?? He was part of the team that discovered the telomerase gene. He has a product out (product B) which is way more potent than the TA65 you alluded to. Dr. Andrews used to be with Geron Corp as well, but broke away and started his own company called sierra sciences. I also heard recently that Geron pulled the plug on their telomere research (not sure what that means for TA65). But yeah, I hope you one day get in an interview with him (he def leads this field today).
Marc, you’re right on the money with these concentrated extracts… I’m still more interested in the whole food source, and possibly heightening it’s effectiveness somehow through phytonutrient combining (using other whole foods/ herbs). This will be interested to see how things play out long term for sure.
Wait, more advanced than Product B is PURE, prelaunch Sunday evening. www. purenow.com
Both Pure Now and Isagenix (product b)are competing Multi Level Marketing products.
They both may have some validity BUT they are not backed by rigorous clinical studies and the proven benefits that TA-65 and similar supplements have shown to have.
shame the quality isn’t that good, poor sound. I tried but after 5mins gave up
Winter, we hoped that it would turn out better in the conversion. The info is GREAT so we wanted to put it out. The sound quality actually gets better 15 min in… but we’ll try and make it accessible in another way in the future. Thanks for chiming in.
