Did you know that we waste 1.3 billion tons of food each year?
How? Check out a great infographic below that was released by Sustainable America.
There are a few things that we do in our family:
- Use all the stems, leaves, etc that are not used in cooking for veggie stock
- Compost
- Give away leftovers to the ones in need
- Shopping list planning
What do you do? Please share in the comments so we can all make better choices not only for our families but also for the planet.

I agree that planning ahead and shopping lists lessen the impulse buys at the grocery store and therefore reduces waste. Do you think that more Americans would be able to put this food waste issue into perspective if the money wasting aspect ($2,275 a year) was brought to their attention more? It would be a fantastic idea to have this infographic in every store!
p.s. Thanks a lot for the info-graphic. Good way to present things.
