Juicing is known for its ability to energize, alkalize, detox and
rejuvenate your body. Green vegetable juices fill you with beneficial
nutrients and antioxidants. Juicing has the ability to improve skin health, reverse degenerative disease and even slow down or reverse aging!
Juice fasts will help the body detoxify and heal to some extent. They free up digestive energy to allow your body to cleanse toxins and waste. They provide a refreshing energy, increased physical and
spiritual energy, and a healthier relationship with food. I am a big fan of green juices. I will alert you about when juice is not healthy and could be harmful to some people.
Limit or avoid juicing fruit
Fruit is healthy but can be harmful if juiced, especially if you have a sugar/candida imbalance. Be especially cautious with tropical fruits such as mango and pineapple, which are very high in sugar. Fruits offer plenty of antioxidants and beneficial enzymes, but they are best eaten whole with their fiber. I don’t recommend juicing with fruit, especially if you are on a weight loss plan. Juicing fruit will spike your blood sugar and insulin levels, increasing fat storage. Green apples are relatively low in sugar and can be used occasionally to sweeten some of the more bitter green
Juices with only greens (celery, romaine, spinach, parsley, watercress and cilantro) and non-starchy, low sugar, high-water-content vegetables (cucumber and zucchini) have a high concentration of chlorophyll and will help cleanse your blood cells. Add garlic, ginger, dulse, cayenne, flax fiber and lime/lemon to boost the healing, cleansing and flavor.
Those with candida and yeast overgrowth
If you are experiencing sugar cravings and an overgrowth of candida/yeast fungus you should avoid eating and juicing fruit until you have healed yourself from the imbalance. Fruit contains natural sugars, which have an effect on yeast overgrowth. It is estimated that one-third of the human population worldwide suffers from candida albicans.
It is natural for candida to thrive in the colon and vagina, but its excessive growth will allow these microorganisms to penetrate the lining of the colon. Then it can spread to other vital organs such as the bladder, small intestines, blood, lymph, brain, and lungs, causing all sorts of problems. Usually linked
with bladder infections, it can also be associated with:
- athlete’s foot
- body aches and pains
- dizziness or vertigo
- ear problems
- extreme sensitivities to the environment
- fluid retention
- sore throats
- mind confusion
- most major illnesses
- minor and major fatigue
- mood swings
- vaginal infections
