The Secret To Pain Relief – Why Stretching and Massage Does NOT Work
Ortho Bionomy is a gentle, non-invasive, system of healing that reminds the body of its natural ability to restore balance. Its principles are based on a simple and profound philosophy: allow the body to correct itself. The hallmark of Ortho Bionomy is pain relief.
Ortho-Bionomy means “the correct application (ortho) of the natural or scientific laws (nomy) of life (bio).” The system includes techniques for body alignment, postural re-education, energy balancing, self-care and neurolymphatic reflexes for harmonizing the internal organs, restoring balance to the endocrine system.
Ortho Bionomy is a highly effective and comprehensive system of natural healing that has its roots in Osteopathy and Martial Arts. This deep, gentle work relieves pain and restores natural alignment, function and balance with more ease, immediacy and lasting effectiveness than you might have thought possible, even when other bodywork modalities have ceased to be effective.
The founder, British-trained Osteopath Arthur Lincoln Pauls, discovered how to gently stimulate the body’s reflexes for self-correction in a way that supports a person’s own healing mechanisms. The body is stimulated using gentle movements, comfortable positioning, brief compression and subtle contact. The result is seemingly effortless pain and tension relief, natural re-alignment, relaxation and a deep sense of well-being. The individual is empowered to participate in their own recovery, and through the process can begin to rediscover the ability to heal and restore comfort, ease and balance back into their body.
Ortho Bionomy not only relieves pain it also increases flexibility, fluidity and range of motion, speeds recovery from injury and the effects of stress, heightens bodymind awareness, restores structural balance, improves the function of organs (the endocrine system) and promotes well-being. When the body is structurally balanced, as founder Arthur Pauls stated, “your body works better, you think better, you feel better.” Ortho-Bionomy goes beyond bodywork and reminds us how to be more at ease in our lives and in our bodies, physically and energetically.
Ortho Bionomy Practitioners have even helped clients prevent surgery associated with joints, disc problems and spinal fusions. Practitioners frequently alleviate pain and other symptoms associated with the following conditions.
Meet Ortho Bionomy Expert Edan Harari
A graduate of the prestigious Swedish Institute, holding an Associates of Occupational Health Sciences, Edan is also a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) an Associate member of the Society of Ortho-Bionomy International (SOBI) – www.Ortho-Bionomy.org and certified in the FMS (Functional Movement Screen).
Edan is no stranger to illness, pain and suffering. Growing up, he had to have numerous major surgeries for multiple physical conditions. Additionally, he has experience with broken bones and a ruptured achilles tendon from sports and dance injuries.
He also used to suffer from cluster headaches regularly and from the age of 18-21 he was struggling with anxiety. At the age of 21, Edan was diagnosed with a debilitating illness which caused him to make some major changes in his life.
Dealing with all these setbacks has given Edan the experience and capacity to work with others who suffer from pain or who want to improve their performance.
Edan used to be one of those sports massage therapists who would dig his elbows into your back to provide you with some temporary relief until he discovered Ortho-Bionomy and how it’s possible to get better results without the use of aggressive force.
The way he found out about this unique system of bodywork was when he hurt his foot dancing back in 2007 and he asked one of his teachers in massage school to have a look at it. In just seconds after doing some subtle movements of his foot, the pain completely vanished permanently!
That’s when Edan decided to dedicate his life to Ortho-Bionomy and to use it’s principles and methods within his sessions to help others just how he was helped with it.
In addition to offering his private body therapy sessions, Edan is also a massage and body-care educator.
He has taught both in person and online at the New York Open Center, The Learning Annex and at various workshops and retreats throughout the US.
He is dedicated to sharing his Kinetic Release Therapy (KRT) method with as many people as possible because of his firm belief that utilizing the various healing techniques incorporated in this method help to achieve faster results without the pain of more common body therapies.
In his free time, Edan enjoys dancing and other movement arts (such as hand balancing and the Ido Portal Method), in-line skating and longboarding, slacklining, biking, snowboarding, surfing, traveling and spending time in nature.
