Aromatherapy and Acne

Acne is a skin disorder that results from over secretion of skin oils from the glands. Associated with the over production of skin oil over time the moist environment of the skin encourages bacterial proliferation that at end skin secretions becomes food to bacteria encouraging growth in population and directly resulting to clogging of pores and eventually infection. The clogging of pores develops whiteheads, blackheads, pimples and then scars due of the infection. Among adolescents this skin condition is very common due to the changes in the hormonal levels fluctuating and so production of skin oils become excessive.

How does aromatherapy remove acne?

Essential oils applied to the problems area. Because of its anti bacterial properties, essential oils will encourage circulation and removing waste material.

Essential oils will also cleanse the skin deeply and balancing the secretions of the sebaceous glands.

What are essential oils for acne?

When selecting essential oils for acne, you’d better to look for essential oils that has anti-inflammation, regulation and anti-bacterial properties are most preferred to aid the cure of acne.

Anti-inflammatory essential oils will help reduce the redness, the swelling of the affected areas and help ease pain as well. Below is a list of essential oils with this attribute:

Aromatherapy and Acne Spot treatment : 1/2 ounce kukui nut, 8 drops of lavender oils, 4 drops tea tree oil, 3 drops cypress oil, 2 drops helichrysum oil.

Combine the oils in a clean container and secure the lid of the container to avoid spillage. Make sure that the oils are mixed well by turning the container upside down. The blend may be applied to affected area a couple of times in a day.

Acne clearing facial steam: This formula is composed of a quart of steaming water, a drop of each clary sage and palmarosa essential oil.

After mixing the oil into the steaming water you may lean to the bowl after covering the back of your head with a towel to direct the steam to your face. Do this in approximately five minutes and make sure that you rinse your face afterwards. With this method you allow the warmth of the steam to let your skin pores open and so deep cleansing is easier.

Clearing Mask: 1 teaspoon clay, A teaspoon of water or honey and a drop of each rosemary and helichrysum essential oil.

Place all the ingredient in your palm and blend well. Apply the mask to the clean skin and leave it for 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly

Blemish banishing aftershave : 8 ounces distilled water, 2 drops of sandalwood, 1 drop of cedarwood, 1 drop of vetiver oil.

Pour the water into a clean container with the essential oils. Mix the substances by turning the container upside down until the mixture is uniform. The mixture may now be used as a splash of aftershave. Make sure that the mixture is shook well before every use.

Wild Rose Facial Oil

This essential oil helps in promoting tissue repair caused by acne. This is a potent regimen that would require a volume the size of your fingertip for application and use.

Facial Scrub

With a facial scrub it helps gentle exfoliation resulting to a younger-looking and vibrant skin. Not only acts as exfoliation but also have functions in eliminating skin impurities of all skin type.
