Jun Tea – The New Gut-Healing Drink That Is About To Be Everywhere

Jun Tea - The New Gut-Healing Drink

You’ve likely heard and even tried kombucha — the popular, effervescent gut-healing soda. But maybe you don’t like kombucha for the same reason that thousands of others don’t enjoy it—it can be super strong in taste and it takes a little getting used to.

Well, get ready to have your socks knocked off. Jun is coming to town, and it’s the classy, light, and mild version of kombucha.

Kombucha and Jun Tea

What Is Jun Tea?

Kombucha is fermented with black tea, sugar, and SCOBY (a Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast) for a fizzy drink filled with gut-healing probiotics and other wonderfully healthy nutrients.

Jun tea is the same, but it’s fermented with green tea, honey, and SCOBY, giving it a lighter and milder appearance and taste.

Jun SCOBY is trained to thrive off honey. If you get Jun culture and attempt to feed it with sugar, it will most likely die. The same is true for kombucha culture if you attempt to feed it with honey.

One huge benefit of Jun tea over kombucha is that Jun ferments a lot more quickly than kombucha. It also thrives at lower temperatures, so you don’t need to worry about keeping it warm.

Nicknamed “kombucha champagne,” Jun tea provides the same benefits as its sister tea, kombucha—and more. Jun is an excellent source of probiotics—gut-friendly bacteria for a healthy gut environment. This gut-healing drink is recommended for people who experience digestive problems and immune problems as well as for those who just want to stay healthy.

What Are the Ingredients in Jun Tea?

It’s pretty simple. All you need is green tea, honey, and Jun SCOBY.

Green Tea

Buy high-quality organic green tea. Green tea can be purchased online or at your local health food store.

Green tea has been celebrated for its numerous health benefits, including cancer prevention,  lowering cholesterol, reducing the risk of stroke, helping with weight loss, reducing inflammation, and boosting memory and cognition.

To make Jun tea, start with one gallon of high-quality green tea, cooled to room temperature.

Honey

There are so many different types of honey in the world that sometimes it’s hard to know which one to choose. If you pick out a pasteurized, filtered, imported honey from your local supermarket, you’re missing out on a lot of great benefits that raw honey has to offer.

If you want a powerful, healing honey, try Manuka honey. Manuka is now sweeping the health food nation with its powerful healing benefits. It has special antibacterial qualities and stimulates cell production to repair damage caused by infection.

Add one cup of Manuka honey—or raw honey from a local hive—to one gallon of green tea.

Jun SCOBY

Jun Scoby: A key ingredient for making Jun tea.

Kombucha SCOBY is a lot more accessible than Jun SCOBY, so make sure that the culture you are purchasing is, in fact, Jun SCOBY and not a knock-off.

Jun SCOBY is lighter in color than kombucha SCOBY. It’s a very pale white, and it’ll yield a light-colored fizzy tea. Besides, you’ll know for sure it’s a kombucha SCOBY if you feed it with honey and it dies.

How Is Jun Tea Made?

Brew organic, high-quality green tea with one gallon of hot water. Strain and cool to room temperature. Add one cup of raw honey and mix until the honey completely dissolves. Transfer the tea to a glass pitcher or jar.

Add Jun culture to the green tea and allow to ferment for three days at room temperature. When the Jun tea is ready, remove the mother culture from the top of the fizzy tea to use for the next batch.

Is Jun Tea Better Than Kombucha?

Jun Tea and kombucha are similar; they both contain important gut-healing probiotics and they are both rich in many nutrients.

However, Jun tea contains both the nutrients from raw honey (amino acids, B vitamins, calcium, copper, iron, and many others) and the antioxidants from green tea—which kombucha lacks. It also takes only three days to ferment, whereas kombucha takes 7–30 days. Jun tea can thrive in temperatures of 70–80°F, whereas kombucha requires a warmer environment of 75–85°F.

It should be noted that Jun tea is more alcoholic than its sister tea, kombucha. Jun contains up to 2% alcohol, whereas kombucha contains about .5% alcohol.

If you’re looking for a gut-healing soda that is easy to make and yields quick results, go for Jun tea.

Jun tea provides all of the benefits of any probiotic supplement and then some. Its health benefits reach all systems of the body and ensure that functions such as digestion, absorption, elimination, and detoxification are in full working condition.

Although it’s best known for treating digestive problems, these are some of the health benefits you may experience once you start drinking Jun tea:

  • A boost in immune function
  • Easier elimination
  • More energy

How Does Jun Tea Improve Gut Health?

Fermented foods contain important nutrients that our bodies need for digestion and immune function. Some bacteria are good, and some are bad—and we need lots of the good bacteria in order to fight off and balance out the bad.

That’s where Jun tea comes in with a healthy serving of probiotics—that good bacteria that compete with the bad bacteria to eliminate candida, improve digestion, and boost immune function. Since 70–80% of your immune system is in your gut, it’s important to restore balance by regularly delivering probiotics, enzymes, and beneficial acids—like the ones found in Jun tea—in the form of fermented foods.
